INFORMATION & INSTRUCTIONS FOR JURIED SHOW

1. No Entry fee

2. All accepted entries must be exhibit-ready and equipped for exhibiting and handling. They must be either framed or look finished, such as a painted edge to gallery canvas. All artwork must be ready-to-hang for display with picture wire. Picture wire should be approximately 1/3 way down the canvas/framed artwork.  If artwork is not submitted this way, it will not be included in the show. If art is 3D for the night of the art loop only, artist must supply a pedestal or display mount, preapproved by exhibit curators.

3. Jill Althouse-Wood and Betty O’Regan are co-curating the event. Artwork will be selected based on adherence to the Earth Day theme, consideration of space, and how the piece relates to other artwork submitted. This is our first exhibit for the AAC, outside of the Ardens. There will be other opportunities. We will be selecting pieces for the juried show based on the digital images of the work that you submit. It is important that your photo is of the work being entered only. Please take the time to take a good photo and crop it as necessary. Any submitted image may be used for promotion of this show.

4. All work must be original and recent, ideally designed and executed within the last five years.

5. Artists must be available to deliver artwork or have their piece(s) delivered to the Delaware Center for Horticulture (1810 N Dupont St, Wilmington, DE) from 4-6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and to pick up unsold artwork the last week of April 2024 (date and time TBD). In the case of freestanding 3D art, artists must be able to deliver their pieces during the the day of Friday, April 5, 2024, and take the pieces with them at the close of the Art Loop event that evening.

6. Artists do not need to be at the reception/opening for the exhibition on Friday, April 5, 2024; however, attendance is encouraged as it makes a huge difference having artists to talk about the artwork with prospective buyers. We hope that many artists are available to represent the AAC at the opening.

7. All items must be for sale; the price designated on entry. A 35% commission will be charged by the Delaware Center for Horticulture. They do a lot of publicity. Their newsletter goes out to 6000 emails. They also use social media blasts and advertise through Out & About. They take care of paying artists for work sold (W-9 forms will be required for artists selling above a certain price point). They also clean and prep all the walls in the gallery. between shows. We are allowed to put nails in wall to hang pieces. No commission is being taken by the AAC.

8. There will be two rounds of acceptance for this show.  Applications are due October 27th for the first round. Notification of entry acceptance will be emailed by November 10th, at the latest. If we have more space to fill in the exhibit, a second round of applications will be due by January 28th with notification going out by the end of February. The reason for the first deadline is to get enough secured submissions to use for publicity. The reason for the second deadline is to give artisans more time to complete work.
